What is Mineral Oil?

Lubricating fluids used in engines, machinery and other mechanical systems to reduce friction, prevent wear and dissipate heat are called lubricants. These petroleum-derived lubricants perform essential functions in internal combustion engines and industrial machinery. Lubricants improve engine performance, prevent overheating and provide the lubrication needed for long-term engine operation.

What are the Types of Mineral Oil?

Lubricants are divided into various types according to their application and formulation. Here are the common types of lubricants:
  1. Engine Oils: Oils used in internal combustion engines that prevent engine wear and provide cooling.

Why Mineral Oil Analysis is Performed

Lubricant analysis, which is carried out to check the quality and functionality of the oil, is also preferred to ensure the healthy operation of machines and engines, to determine maintenance needs and to detect potential failures in advance. Reasons for analyzing mineral oil:
  1. Performance Monitoring: Provides information about changes in the oil, operating conditions and wear of the machine.
  2. Oil Life Monitoring: By checking the oil for contamination, viscosity changes and oxidation, the time to change the oil is determined.
