Zero Discharge of Hazardous Waste (ZDHC)

The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Wastes (ZDHC) Program was developed in the textile, leather and shoes sectors, focusing on the life cycle of products, with the aim of raising environmental awareness in the industry and improving the supply chain. The ZDHC program aims to prevent and reduce wastewater generated by the production of textiles, footwear and leather products.

ZDHC's Basic Principles and Objectives

  1. Reducing Chemical Use
    ZDHC encourages reducing the use of hazardous chemicals as much as possible and replacing them with environmentally friendly alternatives. This allows safer and more sustainable methods to be applied in production processes, as well as reducing chemical use and waste.
  2. Zero Waste and Zero Discharge
    It aims to properly manage and recycle chemical waste without releasing it into the environment. This process involves filtering, recovering or reusing wastewater.
  3. Chemical Monitoring and Testing Systems
    Chemical monitoring and regular testing play a critical role in preventing the release of waste into the environment. One of ZDHC's goals is to prevent the release of harmful chemicals into the environment by ensuring that waste is properly tested and analyzed.
  4. Biodegradability and Non-Hazardous Chemicals
    ZDHC promotes the use of chemicals that are biodegradable and do not harm the environment. The environmental friendliness of chemicals ensures the protection of natural ecosystems.
