Active Ingredient "Peracetic Acid" Analysis

Peracetic acid is a biocidal substance with high sporoidal, bectericidal, virucidal and fungicidal action even at very low concentrations. Peracetic acid has the ability to inactivate bacteria, viruses and fungi in about 5 minutes.

Peracetic acid provides disinfection in hospital environments with a concentration of <1% in approximately 20 minutes of contact time. It can perform sterilization processes at 2% concentration with a contact time of 12 minutes.

The important point in disinfection and sterilization processes is the corrosive effect of peracetic acid on metals. It can be used by diluting about 0.2% in order to remove the corrosive effect.

The types of products in which peracetic acid can be used are specified in the List of Substances Defined in Annex-A Product Type within the scope of the "Biocidal Products Regulation" as follows.

- Product Type 1: Human hygiene
- Product Type 2: Disinfectants and algicides not intended to be applied directly to humans or animals
- Product Type 3: Animal hygiene
- Product Type 4: Food and feed field
- Product type 5: Drinking water
- Product Type 6: Preserving products during storage. - Product Type 11: Preservatives for liquid coolant and processing systems
- Product Type 12: Slimicides
