Adenovirus Type 5 (HAdV-5) is a non-enveloped virus that can cause respiratory infections, conjunctivitis and gastrointestinal disorders in humans. Due to its non-enveloped nature, it is more resistant to disinfectants, making it an ideal test organism for antiviral efficacy assessments.
The Adenovirus Type 5 test is an important assay to evaluate the efficacy of disinfectants and biocidal products against non-enveloped viruses. Non-enveloped viruses have a special place in virucidal efficacy testing because they are more resistant to environmental conditions and chemicals. Adenovirus Type 5 is a widely used model organism within this group of viruses.
EN 14476: This European standard includes protocols for assessing the efficacy of disinfectants and biocidal products against enveloped and non-enveloped viruses. Adenovirus Type 5 is one of the test organisms specified in the non-enveloped virus category of this standard.
2. ASTM E1053: The American standard is used to assess virus inactivation on hard surfaces and supports testing with non-enveloped viruses.
3. ISO 21702: An international standard for the assessment of the activity of viruses on surfaces.
