Iodine and iodine compounds (iodophors, povidone iodine) are important substances used in disinfectants. Generally, iodine and iodine compounds are used in hospitals as disinfectants and antiseptics.

Studies have shown that especially povidone iodine shows its effectiveness on bacteria within 1 minute and suppresses growth. However, excessive use can cause skin irritation. Therefore, the amount of use should be kept under control.
