What are Anti-Degradation Products?

Products used to control the growth and settlement of deconstructive organisms such as microbes and higher growths of plant or animal species on boats, aquaculture equipment or other structures used in water. They are often referred to as antifouling paints.

Degradation inhibitors are an important part of biocidal products and are classified as “Product Type 21”. These products are designed to prevent the deterioration of materials by biological agents (e.g. microorganisms, molds, bacteria and fungi).

Areas of Use

  1. Wood Protection: Prevents rotting, fungal and insect damage to wood products.
  2. Textile Protection: Provides protection against mold and bacteria, especially suitable for outdoor textiles.
  3. Plastics and Polymers: Prevents color and structural changes in plastic materials.
  4. Paper and Cardboard: Provides resistance to microbial-induced deterioration in packaging products.
  5. Building Materials: Prevents deterioration of paints, plasters and fillers.
