Determination of Chloride in Water

Chloride, found in various waters, especially in wastewater, is one of the inorganic anions. The amount of chloride in wastewater is higher. The amount of chloride may increase due to industrial processes or the infiltration of salt water into the sewer system. Excess chloride in drinking water causes a bitter taste.

The presence of high chloride can harm plants as well as metallic pipes and water systems. By measuring chloride, information can be obtained about the salinity of different water resources. It is an important parameter for brackish water detection and indicates the degree of desalination.

Low amounts of chloride are not harmful to human health. However, water used in agricultural activities, especially to irrigate salt-sensitive plants, should normally have chloride and total salinity concentrations at or below drinking water standards.

For these reasons, Chloride Determination in Water is necessary. For your analysis request, please contact Nanolab Environmental/Water Analysis Laboratory.
