Determination of Grain Size

Particle size determination is carried out by determining the ability of many food products to pass through holes or openings of certain sizes. Tests performed using sieves are a common method for determining the dimensions of products within the scope of quality control and detecting them in different sizes.

Grain size is used especially in wheat. It is desired that the grain size, which is important for milling, be large. It is necessary to evaluate wheat in terms of grinding and flour yield. The sieve mechanism to be used is prepared so that the sieve with the largest hole diameter is on top. Approximately 100 g of sample is placed on top and sifted for 3 minutes. Comments can be made about the sample by checking all the sieves.
