Urease Activity Determination is usually performed to determine whether the cooking of products containing soybeans is sufficient. To determine urease activity, it is necessary to determine the amount of ammonia nitrogen released per minute by 1 g of product from a urea solution at 30oC.
Detection of urease activity is important, especially in mixed feeds. If urease activity is high in feeds containing soybeans, the protein utilization rate of the animals decreases.
