Requirements for Baby Clothes under the Chinese Standard
Scope of FZ/T 81014 Standard
FZ/T 81014 is a Chinese standard that regulates the technical specifications and safety requirements of infant clothing. This standard focuses specifically on clothing for infants aged 36 months and under and addresses critical factors such as safety, hygiene, comfort and durability of products.
The FZ/T 81014 standard covers the requirements for baby clothing to be sold in China. GB/T 33271-2016 standard can also be used instead of FZ/T 81014 standard.
Tests Covered by the Standard
The tests and analyzes performed to determine the conformity of baby clothes to the standard are as follows.
- Color fastness to wet rubbing
- Color fastness to rubbing against primer
- Extractable heavy metals: As, Pb, Cr, Co, Cu, Ni, Sb, Cd, Cr, Hg
- Total heavy metals: Test on coated or pigment printed fabric, plastic or rubber component and coating on component - Pb, Cd
- Determination of Phthalates
- Flammability
- Other requirements: The zipper must be non-removable. It must be free of removable particles. No sharp points, beads, etc. The neck opening of the sweater should be suitable for babies.

- The symbols used must comply with GB/T 8685.
- Warnings
- Safety warnings for infants, such as “No small parts” or “Non-flammable”, should be included.
