GB 18401-2010 covers the necessary tests and analyzes to control the clothing and decorative textile products sold in China for dangerous substances, to improve the product quality, to check whether they meet the basic safety requirements, and to determine the technical features of the products.
Textile products are divided into three according to the standard:
- Baby Products
- Skin Contact Products
- Non Skin Contact Products
On textile products for technical requirements within the scope of the standard; Formaldehyde Determination, pH, Water Resistance, Acid/Alkaline Sweat Resistance, Dry Rub Resistance, Saliva Resistance, Odor and Detection of Disposable Carcinogenic Aromatic Amine Dyes are carried out.
Baby Products Type A Requirements
- Determination of Formaldehyde, < 20 mg/kg
- pH, 4.0 – 7.5
- Water Resistance (C/C, C/ S), 3-4
- Acid/Alkaline Sweat Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3-4
- Dry Rub Resistance (C/C, C/S), 4
- Saliva Resistance (C/C, C/S),4
- No odor.
- It should not contain single-use carcinogenic aromatic amine dye.
Products in Contact with Skin Type B Requirements
- Formaldehyde Determination, < 75 mg/kg
- pH, 4.0 – 8.5
- Water Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
- Acid /Alkaline Sweat Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
- Dry Rub Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
- Saliva Resistance (C/C, C/S) ,-
- There should be no odor.
- It should not contain Disposable Carcinogenic Aromatic Amine Dyes.
Type C Requirements for Products That Do Not Contact With Skin
- Determination of Formaldehyde, <300 mg /kg
- pH, 4.0 – 9.0
- Water Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
- Acid/Alkaline Sweat Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
- Dry Rub Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
- Saliva Resistance (C/C, C/S),-
- No odor.
- It Should Not Contain Decomposable Carcinogenic Aromatic Amine Dye.
GB 18401-2010: National general safety technical code for textile products
For the sale of textile products in China, the product type must be clearly stated. In particular, the safety codes of baby products or other categories should be clearly stated.
