National General Safety Technical Code for Textile Products under the Chinese Standard

Purpose of GB 18401-2010 Standard

GB 18401-2010 covers the tests and analyzes necessary to check garments and decorative textile products sold in China for hazardous substances, improve product quality, check whether they meet basic safety requirements, and determine the technical characteristics of the products.

According to the standard, textile products are divided into three:

Baby Products
Skin Contact Products
Products Not in Contact with Skin

Formaldehyde Determination, pH, Water Resistance, Acid/Alkaline Sweat Resistance, Dry Friction Resistance, Saliva Resistance, Odor and Detection of Disposable Carcinogenic Aromatic Amine Dyes are performed on textile products for technical requirements within the scope of the standard.

Type A Requirements for Baby Products

Determination of formaldehyde, < 20 mg/kg
pH, 4.0 - 7.5
Water Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3-4
Acid/Alkaline Sweat Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3-4
Dry Friction Resistance (C/C, C/S), 4
Saliva Resistance (C/C, C/S),4
There should be no odor.
Disposable Carcinogenic Aromatic Amine Dye Free.

Type B Requirements for Skin Contact Products

Determination of formaldehyde, < 75 mg/kg
pH, 4.0 - 8.5
Water Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
Acid/Alkaline Sweat Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
Dry Friction Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
Saliva Resistance (C/C, C/S)
There should be no odor.
Disposable Carcinogenic Aromatic Amine Dye Free.

Non-Skin Contact Products Type C Requirements

Formaldehyde Determination, < 300 mg/kg
pH, 4.0 - 9.0
Water Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
Acid/Alkaline Sweat Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
Dry Friction Resistance (C/C, C/S), 3
Saliva Resistance (C/C, C/S)
There should be no odor.
Shall Not Contain Decomposable Carcinogenic Aromatic Amine Dye.
