Instructions for Use of Textiles and Garments under the Chinese Standard

Purpose of GB/T 5296.4 Standard

In order for textile and garment products to be sold in China, they must meet GB Standard requirements. Section 4 of the GB / T 5296 standard includes “Textile and Apparel Instructions for Use”.

Requirements According to the Standard

Basic principles:

All content of the instructions for use must be concise, accurate, scientific and understandable.
The instructions for use must accurately describe the product and must not contain exaggerated or inaccurate content.

Content of the instructions for use:

The legally registered name and address of the legally responsible manufacturer must be stated.
For imported textile and clothing products, the origin of the product and the legally registered name and address of the agent, importer or seller in mainland China must be stated.
The name of the product must be marked and indicate the true nature of the product.
If there are terms and definitions for product names in national standards and industry standards, the names specified in national standards and industry standards should be indicated.
If there are no terms and definitions for product names in national standards and industry standards, names that will not cause misunderstanding or confusion for consumers should be used.
The product model or characteristics must be clearly stated. For yarn, it should be marked with at least one main characteristic of the product, such as linear density, length or weight. Fabric products should be marked with at least one main characteristic of the product, such as mass, density or width per unit area. Clothing products must correctly indicate the size of the garment.
Garments may also indicate the product length or product circumference, etc.
Socks should be marked with the size measurement or wearing range, while tights should be marked with the wearer's body height and circumference range.
Headgear products should indicate the circumference size or size range of the headgear opening.
Gloves should be marked with the applicable palm length and width.
For other textiles, the size or specification should be marked according to the characteristics of the product.
The product shall indicate the fiber composition and content according to regulations FZ/T01053.
Leather garments should be marked with the leather type according to QB/T2262.
The product shall express the maintenance method according to the graphic symbols specified in GB/T 8685, and explanatory text corresponding to the graphic symbols may be added.
The product shall be marked with the product standard number of the country, industry, place or enterprise to which it is applied.
The safety category of the product shall be indicated according to GB 18401.
For products that may cause damage to the product due to improper use, precautions for use should be specified, and for products that require storage, the storage method should be specified.
