GB/T 5296.4: Textile and apparel usage instructions

Textile and apparel products must meet GB Standard requirements to be sold in China. The GB/T 5296 standard includes Chapter 4 “Textile and Apparel Usage Instructions”.

The requirements according to the standard are as follows:

Basic principles:
- All content of the instructions for use should be short, accurate, scientific and understandable.
- Directions for use should accurately describe the product and should not contain exaggerated or false content.

Contents of the operating instructions:
- The legally registered name and address of the legally responsible manufacturer must be stated.
- For imported textile and apparel products, the origin of the product and the legally registered name and address of the agent, importer or seller in mainland China must be stated.
- The name of the product should be marked and should indicate the actual feature of the product.
- If there are terms and definitions for product names in national and industry standards, the names specified in national standards and industry standards should specify.
- If there are no terms and definitions for product names in national and industry standards, names that will not cause misunderstanding or confusion for consumers should be used.
- The product model or features should be clearly stated. For yarn, the linearity of the product should be marked with at least one main characteristic, such as density, length or weight. At least one main characteristic of the fabric product should be specified, such as mass, density or width per unit area. Clothing products must accurately indicate the clothing size.
- The garments can also change the product length or product circumference, etc. can also specify.
- Stockings should be marked with size or wearing range, while pantyhose should be marked with wearer body height and circumference range.
- Headgear products must specify the circumference or size range of the header mouth.
- Gloves should be marked according to valid palm length and width.
- For other textiles, size or specification should be marked according to the characteristics of the product.
- The product must specify the fiber composition and content according to the FZ/T01053 regulations.
- Leather garments must be marked with the type of leather according to QB/T2262.
- The product will express the maintenance method according to the graphic symbols specified in GB/T 8685, and the corresponding explanatory text can be added to the graphic symbols.
- The product must be marked with the product standard number of the country, industry, location or business where it is applied.
- The safety category of the product must be specified according to GB 18401.
- Usage precautions should be specified for products that may damage the product due to improper use, and the storage method should be specified for products that have a storage obligation.
