GB/T 5296.5: Instructions for use for products of consumer interest - Part 5: Toys

Part 5 of the GB 5296 standard contains the basic principles, marking contents, forms, placement positions, font style and font size requirements for instructions on the use of toys.

Intended for play by children under 14 or expressly pre-defined designated toys are tested under the GB 5296 standard.
Delivery of toy products will include instructions for use.
Instructions for use must enable consumers to use the toy correctly and safely and minimize harm resulting from improper use.
Instructions for use must fully describe the effect of use of the product and should not be used to cover up design flaws.
There must be safety warning instructions or warning signs for toys that may cause harm during use.
Consider the instructions for use, safety warnings and instructions for use. The preparation of the durability requirements for the relevant products will be in accordance with the provisions of GB5296.1.

The general requirements for toys are as follows:
• Product name: The product name must comply with the country name, industry and business standards and must be in accordance with the actual product. should be able to indicate its features.
• Product number: The model and features to be marked in the user manual must be compatible with the model on the product.
• Product standard number: The serial number of the standard applied by the product will be indicated on the packaging, instructions for use or label.
• Age range: Indicate the age range for which the toy is valid on the product packaging, user manuals and labels. Applicable age range and descriptive age mark labeling requirements shall comply with the provisions of GB6675.
• Safety warning: Toys that require warning signs or warning instructions should be marked. Labeling requirements and methods of expression of safety warnings shall comply with the provisions of GB6675.
• Name and content of the main components of plush fabric toys: Plush toys shall indicate the common name and content of the fabric used in the product and the main components of the filling material.
• Safe use method and assembly diagram: For products with complex structure and usage methods, difficult to install, attachable and assembled toys should follow the correct usage procedures in the instructions or labels, and the steps should indicate detailed usage methods or assembly charts.
• Toy care: Safe use or care and maintenance methods for toys that affect health and hygiene will be marked.
• Safe use period: For products that must be used within a limited period of time, the production date and safe use period should be marked (marked in the order of year, month and day).
• Instructions for use on the product or packaging should be placed in an easily recognizable place. Safety warning labels for plush toys must be sewn on the product.
• Font, font size: Standard Chinese characters will be used in the operating instructions for products sold domestically. The size of Chinese characters, numbers and letters should not be smaller than five points. The font of the safety warnings such as "Danger", "Warning" and "Caution" should not be less than four points bold and the font of the warning content should not be less than five points black.
