What is ISO 17234-1 Standard Scope? What are the Harms of Azo Dyes in Leather Products?

Azo dyes are completely organic, consisting of -N=N- azo group. It is generally used in dyeing leathers to ensure that the colors give the desired color. Leather products are especially preferred in textile products and shoes. The use of leather products in different areas is also used in different colors.

Due to the damages of azo dyestuffs, its presence is not desired in leather products. The general damages that may occur with long-term exposure to azo dyes can be listed as follows:

  • It can cause skin, bladder, kidney or liver cancer due to its carcinogenic effects.
  • Skin conditions such as eczema, irritation and allergies
