Methods of pH Determination of Aqueous Extract: Textiles

What is the Purpose of Aqueous Extract and ISO 3071 Standard?

Aqueous extract is a solution obtained from the water-soluble components of a substance or fabric. In textile products, the pH value of this solution usually varies depending on the content of the product, the chemicals used and the nature of the dyes. The pH of this solution is an indicator that determines the quality of the fabric and whether it harms the user during use.

The ISO 3071 standard is an important guideline used in the quality control of products manufactured in the textile industry. This standard specifies the use of pH meters for measuring the pH levels of liquids derived from textile products. The pH value of the aqueous extract plays an important role in determining the effectiveness and safety of the chemicals used, especially during production processes. Furthermore, this test contributes to optimizing production processes that are sensitive to environmental impacts.

The “pH Determination of Aqueous Extract” is performed to obtain information about the processing history of textile products, the acidity or alkalinity of different forms of textiles, usually expressed in terms of the pH-value of the aqueous extract. The ISO 3071 standard test method is used to determine the pH of an aqueous extract on fibers, yarns and fabrics.

Application Areas of ISO 3071

  1. Textile Production Processes
    • In dyeing, bleaching and other chemical processes, pH control improves the efficiency of the process.
    • Optimizes color quality, texture durability and chemical properties of products.
  2. Quality Control and Testing
    • By controlling the pH value of aqueous extracts, textile manufacturers ensure that products comply with international quality standards.
    • This guarantees the safety and durability of the products.
  3. Environmental Responsibility
    • The pH value of wastewater from textile production is monitored to ensure that it does not harm the environment.
    • This standard ensures that wastewater is treated in an environmentally sound manner.
  4. Consumer Safety
    • The pH value of textiles is kept within a certain range to protect the health of the user.
    • In this way, the risk of allergic reactions is minimized when clothing and other textile products come into contact with the skin.

Nanolab Laboratories Group continues to provide services within the scope of pH Analysis in Textiles. We also provide services in Textile Analysis.
