Biological activity tests are tests carried out especially to evaluate the effectiveness of biocidal products. Bactericidal activity, fungicidal and yeastidal activity, sporicidal activity and virucidal activity tests performed within the scope of biological activity tests.
Poliovirus Type 1 is a type of virus that causes the disease known as “Polio”, especially affecting the nervous system. Within the scope of virucidal activity tests performed on biocidal products, the determination of “Poliovirus Type 1” activity is also included.
Poliovirus; It is one of the enteroviruses with 3 different serotypes as Type I, Type II, Type III, which are mostly seen in countries with temperate climates but affect the whole world. Polioviruses belong to the genus “Enterovirus” and the family “'Picornaviridae”. They contain single-stranded RNA. All 3 different serotypes have 70% similar nucleotides. Poliovirus causes a disease known as poliomyelitis.
Poliovirus is only transmitted to humans and enters the body through the mouth. They live in people's throats and intestines. It is especially transmitted by contact with feces. The way to protect against this virus is again through cleanliness. Washing hands regularly during the day, avoiding being in crowded environments such as public transportation for a long time or performing the necessary disinfection procedures in case of presence will protect us from poliovirus and all other harmful microorganisms.
