"Poliovirus Type 1" Test in Virucidal Activity Testing

In order for disinfectants to be put into use, certain tests and analyzes are required. The most important of these test procedures is "Biological Activity Tests".

Biological activity tests are tests performed to evaluate the effectiveness of biocidal products. Bactericidal activity, fungicidal and mayacidal activity, sporicidal activity and virucidal activity tests performed within the scope of biological activity tests.

Poliovirus Type 1 is a type of virus that causes the disease known as "Polio" among the people, especially affecting the nervous system. Within the scope of virucidal activity tests performed on biocidal products, the determination of "Poliovirus Type 1" efficiency is also included.

So What Are The Characteristics Of Poliovirus? What are the Ways of Transmission and Prevention?

Poliovirus; It is one of the enteroviruses with 3 different serotypes: Type I, Type II and Type III, which are mostly seen in countries with mild climates but affect the whole world.

Polioviruses are in the genus "Enterovirus" and family of "Picornaviridae". It contains single stranded RNA. The nucleotides of all 3 different serotypes are 70% similar. Poliovirus causes a disease known as poliomyelitis.

Poliovirus infects only humans and enters the body through the mouth. They live in people's throats and intestines. Especially it is transmitted by contact with feces.

This anti-virus way is again through cleaning. Regularly washing hands during the day, not staying for a long time in crowded environments such as public transportation or performing the necessary disinfection procedures in case of being present will protect us from poliovirus and all other harmful microorganisms.
