QB/T 2777: Standards and Quality Requirements for Marking Pens

What is the QB/T 2777 Standard?

QB/T 2777 is a standard that specifies requirements for the production, quality control and performance of marking pens in China. This standard provides specific technical criteria and quality parameters to ensure that marking pens are safe, high quality and effective. Marking pens are tools used for writing, marking or drawing on different surfaces. This standard is designed to ensure that manufacturers' products meet certain quality levels and that users can use them safely.

The QB / T 2777 standard includes the classification, properties, test methods, inspection rules and markings, packaging, transportation and storage of marking pens. This standard covers the performance requirements for pens to perform marking or marking on one or more materials such as paper, wood, metal, glass, plastic, enamel, ceramics, etc.

Marking pens can be divided into two categories:

  • Those using water-based ink are water-based marker pens (including colored fountain pens)
  • Those using oil-based inks are oil-based marker pens.

Marking pens can be divided into water storage core marking pens and direct liquid marking pens according to their water storage structure.

Scope in General

QB/T 2777 covers various aspects of marking pens and includes the following main topics:

  1. Product Description and Categories: The different types of marking pens (e.g. highlighters, whiteboard markers, sponge-tipped pens, marker pens, etc.) and their requirements are defined.
  2. Material Quality: The materials used in the production of marking pens must be safe and of good quality. Components such as pen nibs, ink and outer coating must meet certain standards.
  3. Performance Characteristics: Performance criteria such as writing quality, ink flow, color intensity and durability are also covered by this standard. Characteristics such as ink fluidity, marking quality and erasure resistance are determined by standards.
  4. Environmentally Friendly and Safety Standards: Environmentally friendly production and the use of recyclable materials are encouraged. It is also emphasized that marking pens should contain non-toxic substances and should not harm human health.
  5. Ergonomics and User Comfort: It states that the design of pens should be ergonomic to allow users to use them comfortably for long periods of time.

Tests within the scope of the Standard

The performance of marking pens shall meet the requirements of the standard by passing the following tests

  • Initial write performancev - Write performance
  • Leakage resistance - kPa
  • End displacement force - N
  • Pen power - N
  • Dryness
  • Adhesion
  • Intermittent writing
  • Water resistance
  • Light resistance
  • Temperature resistance
  • Impact durability
  • Pen cap tension - N
