It covers more than 70 percent of the Earth's surface. Seawater is a complex mixture of 96.5 percent water, 2.5 percent salt and smaller amounts of other substances, including dissolved inorganic and organic materials, particles and a few atmospheric gases.
Seawater constitutes a rich source of various commercially important chemical elements. Most of the world's magnesium is recovered from seawater, as are large quantities of bromine. In certain parts of the world, sodium chloride (table salt) is still obtained by evaporation of seawater. In addition, when desalinated, water from the sea can provide an unlimited supply of drinking water. To address freshwater scarcity, many large desalination plants have been built in the Middle East in dry areas along the seashores and elsewhere.
Seawater quality is critical for ecosystem health, biodiversity and human health. Seawater tests are regularly conducted to protect marine ecosystems, ensure sustainable management of water resources and prevent marine pollution. These tests are used to monitor seawater quality and assess environmental impacts.
Seawater tests assess water quality by monitoring the health of the seas. The importance of these tests are:
Dissolved Oxygen Determination | Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) Determination |
Determination of Nitrate / Nitrate Nitrogen | Ammonia / Ammonia Nitrogen; Determination of Ammonium / Ammonium Nitrogen |
Turbidity Determination | Light Transmittance / Secchi Disc Depth Determination |
Suspended Solids (AKM) Determination | Determination of Hydrocarbon Oil Index |
Color Determination | pH Determination |
Nanolab Laboratories Group continues to provide services within the scope of Sea Water Tests. We also provide services in Pool Water Tests.
