Purpose of TS EN 14372 Standard
TS EN 14372 is a standard developed to ensure the safe use of cutlery and utensils for children. This standard is specifically designed to prevent accidents and health problems that children experience while eating. The main objectives of the standard are:
- To ensure the safety of children: Cutting tools and other eating utensils must be suitable for use by children and must not pose any danger.
- Determine material quality: The materials from which forks, knives and utensils are made must be safe for health.
- Ensure legal compliance: To ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in Europe.
Scope and scope of application
The TS EN 14372 standard covers the following children's products:
- Forks, knives and spoons: All kinds of forks, knives and spoon sets used by children while eating.
- Feeding sets: Meal sets specially designed for infants and young children.
- Eating utensils: Other eating utensils made for children, e.g. plates, cups, bowls.
- Feeding bottles and pacifiers: All sets including feeding bottles, milk bottles and pacifiers may also fall within the scope of this standard.
The standard, which specifies the tests and analyzes to be carried out on feeding containers designed for children up to 36 months, does not cover cutlery and feeding containers designed for special medical applications or for use under supervision.
