Product Type 2 (PT 2) includes products used for disinfection on surfaces, equipment and in water, except for direct application to humans and animals in the biocidal product classification. This group includes products that control or destroy microorganisms, such as disinfectants and algicides.

Type 2 biocidal products are biocidal products that are used for the disinfection of surfaces, materials, equipment and furniture that are not in direct contact with food and feed and for the prevention of algae growth and are not intended for direct contact with humans and animals.

- Industrial Use: Disinfection products used in factories, warehouses and workplaces.
- Non-Food Contact Areas: Disinfection of surfaces not in direct contact with food in food production and processing facilities.
- Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems: Products that control microorganisms in air conditioning and ventilation systems.
PT 2 Methods of Analysis of Products
Efficacy and safety tests for PT 2 products are performed in accordance with international standards and local regulations.
1. Efficacy Tests
- Bactericidal Activity: Lethal activity against bacteria.
- Standard: EN 1276, EN 13697.
- Fungicidal Activity: Activity against fungi and yeast species.
- Standard: EN 1650, EN 13697.
- Virucidal Activity: Efficacy for the destruction of viruses.
- Algicidal Activity: Activity to inhibit or kill the growth of algae.
2. Physical-Chemical Tests
- Product stability, pH, density and amount of active substance are analyzed.
3. Toxicological Evaluation
- It is examined whether the product is harmful to human health.
- Tests: Skin and eye irritation, inhalation toxicity.
4. Environmental Impact Analyses
- The degradability of the product in the environment and its effect on water are evaluated.
