Viscosity Analysis in Mineral Oils

Viscosity is one of the factors affecting heat generation in cylinders and gear sets due to the internal friction of the oil. Viscosity;

-   Manages the sealing effect and oil consumption rate of oils.
-   Determines the ease of operation of machines in cold climates and changing temperature conditions.

By definition, viscosity is an oil's resistance to flowing. It decreases with increasing temperature, that is, it becomes thinner, while decreasing temperature increases, that is, thickens. The viscosity of an oil is commonly determined by calculating the flow time of a certain volume of oil, called kinematic viscosity, through a device called a capillary tube.

The viscosity index or property of the oil expressed as VI; is the ability to resist changes in viscosity due to a change in temperature. Not all oils respond the same to temperature changes. The higher the oil VI value, the less the viscosity temperature changes and the benefits can be listed as follows:

-  Low oil consumption and less wear
-  Reducing fuel consumption

We emphasized the importance of kinematic viscosity and viscosity index for viscosity measurement. Another important aspect is the ability to resist slipping. The ability to resist slip is essentially resisting the rupture of one plane of lubricant from the other. These important points are the points to be considered when choosing oil.

For this reason, Viscosity Analyzes are carried out in Oils. You can contact Nanolab Environmental Laboratory for Viscosity Analysis in Mineral Oils.
