Wastewater Analysis: Water Pollution Monitoring and Environmental Protection Methods

What is Wastewater?

Wastewater is generated as a result of many industrial productions such as mining, energy production, food factories and oil refineries. Industrial wastewater must be treated before being discharged into rivers and sewers. The treatment process should take into account the pollutants present. Domestic wastewater is dirty water from sewers, bathrooms and washing machines.

Wastewater, if inadequately treated, often leads to algal blooms; fish kills and other fauna losses, destruction of aquatic habitats; and can cause acute or chronic toxicity to aquatic life from chemical pollutants and also from bioaccumulation of chemicals in the food chain. These impacts are economically, socially and environmentally unsustainable and therefore all wastewater must be treated before discharge.

Wastewater analyzes must pass certain tests and analyzes depending on environmental legislation in order to prevent environmental pollution and endanger the lives of living things.
